DS90UB953-Q1: what will DS90UB953 do when we powered off DS90UB954 from normal operation status?

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1

Hi

I have a question.

when the DS90UB953/954 works normally through FPD-Link III, we power off the DS90UB954 only.

what will DS90UB953 do?  what is the status it will go into?

Thanks

  • Hi Jesse,

It depends. If you are providing the part power via PoC from the 954, then the device will also turn off. If it has a seperate power source, then it will stay on. You will also lose your back channel stream because that is being sent from the 954 side. The forward channel will continue to output if you are in Non-synchronous mode based on the clock rate you are provding. If you are in synchronous mode, then it will revert to internal always on clock which will default to about a 2G FPD datarate.

  • Hello,

in the default of AON clock the output rate is 2Gbps NOT ~4Gbps? thanks.

    best regards,

    Steven

  • Hi Steven,

Thank you for pointing that out. Ignore my initial response about the sync and non-sync mode. I wanted to update you that it will revert to the AON clock if you lose the external clock in Non-sync mode. In sync mode, the FC will stop and wait until you provide a refclk again.
