DS90LV018A: LVDS 1.8V -> TTL 3.3V || TTL 3.3V -> LVDS 1.8V

Part Number: DS90LV018A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90LV017A, DS90LV012A, DS90LV011A

Hello everyone,

I'm interested in the DS90LV018A and the DS90LV017A to convert TTL 3.3V signal to LVDS 1.8V signals (and vice versa).

Are these two components allowing that ? If yes :

- For the 017A (driver) :

==> How can I know the output of my driver is LVDS 1.8V if I power the component with 3.3V (Vcc) and have an input of 3.3V TLL.

==> Do I have to add a resistor somewhere ? (for impedance)

- For the 018A (receiver) :

==> Do I have to power the Vcc with 3.3V so that the TTL output is TTL3.3v ?

==> Do I have to add a resistor at the entrance of my receiver (100 ohm in the datasheet) ?

Thanks a lot for your answers (it's kind of blurred for me right now).

  • Hello,

    I am not sure what you mean by "LVDS 1.8V"... LVDS is standard and signal is 350mV differential with 1.2V common mode. Please refer to this resource for an excellent info on LVDS:
    LVDS Owner's Manual: www.ti.com/.../snla187.pdf

    Assuming "LVDS 1.8V" is simply LVDS, then to answer your question, DS90LV017A (or DS90LV011A) powered by 3.3V supply will convert single-ended 3.3V LVTTL input to standard LVDS differential output. Also, DS90LV018A (or DS90LV012A) powered by 3.3V supply will convert LVDS differential input to single-ended 3.3V LVTTL output. The only extra component needed is 100 Ohm resistor between the RIN+ and RIN- inputs of the LVDS receiver.
