TFP410: Questions for LV-TTL RGB to HDMI bridge

Part Number: TFP410

Hi team,

The customer is considering building some prototypes of the LV-TTL RGB to HDMI bridge board with TFP410.

(1) Is I2C setting needed for the TFP410 operation? Can the customer use this device without I2C configuration?

(2) Can this device output HDMI data (without audio) only by the input of RGB-24bit data and clock?

(3) What is the recommended ESD protection device for the input side(RGB) and the output side(HDMI), respectively?

(4) What is the recommended translator device between the LV-TTL RGB data and the input of TFP410?

(5) Can you provide the reference schematic for that use-case (LV-TTL RGB 24bit to HDMI, 1920x1080/60p)?

Thanks and Regards,

Ishida

  • Hi Ishida-san,

    1. I2C is only needed if they need to use the DE generator.
    2. Yes.
    3. We don't have recommendations for ESD protection devices. You can view the ESD ratings table in the datasheet to determine what type of ESD protection you want to implement (if at all).
    4. There is no recommended translator device as it is assumed the RGB data is within specification of the datasheet. You can review the recommended operating conditions and electrical characteristics table in the datasheet to determine whether or not your signals are compatible or need level translating.
    5. You can view the Application and Implementation section on page 25 of the datasheet, and also the Design Notes application note: www.ti.com/.../slla135.pdf

  • Hello I.K.-san,

Thank you for the answer. Just to make sure, when ISET=Low for disabling I2C function, we think the TFP410 can continuously output HMDI signals(1080p or 720p) for the input signals which TFP410 can support, but is that understanding correct? Is there a possibility that TFP410 outputs VGA or 480p signals depending on the input signals which TFP410 can support?

    Regards,
    Ishida
  • Hi Ishida-san,

If the input data is 1080p or 720p HDMI then the output will be as well.

    Regards,
    I.K.
