LMH0397: LMH0397 Output

Part Number: LMH0397
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH1297, LMH1228

Hi Team,

I cannot understand from the data sheet of LMH0397 which output (from the 3 outputs) I need to connect from the LMH0397 to BNC connector that location on my board?

In additional what I need to do with the outputs I not use?

Thanks,

Shlomi

  • Hi Shlomi,

You need to use SDI_IO output and leave SDI_OUT in-connected. SDI_OUT does not need termination. Please leave SDI_OUT_SEL floating(this disables SDI_OUT).

Please confirm you have access to the LMH0397 design documents. Schematic and data sheet are part of these documents.

  • Hi Nasser,

Attached my schematic for the 3G and 12G, please confirm the connection.

    Thanks,

    Shlomi

  • Hi Shlomi,

It seems you are using LMH1297 as a cable driver only. Please note for this purpose, you can use LMH1228 as well. These two devices are pin and register compatible. The only difference is that LMH1297 is normally used either as a cable driver or cable equalizer while LMH1228 is used for cable driver applications only.

    I checked you schematic.

1). Please note pin#27 - LOCK_N - requires external 2K to 5K ohm pull up resistor. The same is true for pins number 13(MOSI-SDA) and 29(SCK).

2). Also, please note pin # 29 is used for SPI or SMBus clock. In your schematic this is shown as ADDR1 but the purpose of this pin is to provide clock for either SPI or SMBus interface.
