DP83867IR: Only run 100Mbps

Hi Sirs,

Sorry to bother you,

We have use DP83867IR, main chip is AM4378.

Our issue is PC directly connect to AM4378 ethernet. Only 100Mbps!!

We would like to know DP83867IR auto-negotiation could be on the 1000T even no SW? i mean after Strap Pin setting, there should be support 10/100/1000?

Am i wrong?

Have any suggest on this issue?

Hi Sirs,
The ethernet speed can reach to 1Gbps when PC directly connect to DP83867ERGZ-R-EVM without any SW.
Please kindly advise our only 100M issue.

Hi Shu-Cheng,

Can you read the following registers and let me know the value?

- Strap Configuration Status Register 1 (STRAP_STS1), Address 0x006E
- Configuration Register 1 (CFG1), Address 0x0009

We can read value of 0x0009 but can't on 0x006E.

Did you know what is reason?

Hi,

Not sure why you cannot read 0x006E which is a standard register as described in the datasheet. The value of this register will tell whether the strap configuration is expected or not.

In order to further assist you, can you dump the registers in datasheet section 8.6 (you can exclude Receive Pattern Registers and TDR registers)?

Were you able to resolve the issue?

I believe the issue you're seeing is most likely caused by Auto-Negotiation being disabled by wrong strap. Please check this strap pin on your board. The pin should be strapped to MODE 3 during power on/reset, in order to have auto-negotiation enable.

You can read register 0x0, bit 12 to confirm it.

You can also read register 0x6E, bit 7 to see if Auto-Negotiation is disabled or enabled.
