TPS65987D: Host Programming for SPI-Flash Less Systems

Part Number: TPS65987D

Hi Team,

"TPS65987DDH Host Programming for SPI-Flash Less Systems" Application Report: SLVA972–May 2018

On page 6, 3.1.2 Execution Flow, Section 2, there is the following description,
"If the device does not get any response from the host within the configured time, the PD controller assumes no host is currently available and continues to the next step in the boot process."
Q: How much time is the configured time?

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Koshi Ninomiya

  • Hi Ninomiya-san,

If you configure the device to an "Infinite wait" state according to Table 5 of the TPS65987D datasheet, then the PD controller will continue to wait for the Patch through I2C. This is the recommended mode of operation if you are using I2C patching as mentioned in the "TPS65987DDH Host Programming for SPI-Flash Less Systems" Application Report.
