TFP401: TFP401 DVI/HDMi copyright

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP401

Your IC's interface is DVI and HDMI, so that's definitely the two applications. Whether these two applications need the authorization of HDMI organization?
Has TFP401 IC paid the relevant fees to HDMI?
  • If you want to use the TFP401 in an HDMI application then you will need a license. From Wikipedia: "The HDMI specification is not an open standard; manufacturers need to be licensed by HDMI LLC in order to implement HDMI in any product or component. Companies who are licensed by HDMI LLC are known as HDMI Adopters".

So if your product uses the TFP401 with HDMI, then you will need a license. That is my understanding.
