TLK3132 in TBI and SGMII mode

Hi,

I would like to use tlk3132 in TBI mode where in serial data will be in SGMII mode and these needs to be convert to TBI and another side I am planning to use another TLK3132 to convert the given TBI to SGMII.

In this conversion, we expect all the packet transfer will tkae care of all the information like /C/ and /I/ and auto negotiation related information to be transparent through this conversion. In this regard, kindly confirm all code group and ordered set definition as defined in clause 36 of the IEEE 802.3z standards are completely transparent through TLK3132 in TBI mode.

Kindly suggest and assist.

I'm sorry, this is not yet clear to me. A block diagram would be more helpful. Please show which parts of the link use SGMII and which use TBI.

Hi Hassan,

One of the customers has a query as given below:

We are dealing with SGMII traffic through SERDES interface. The SGMII traffic is compliant to 802.3z PCS. So we would like to know whether the traffic would get properly transmitted to TBI in TLK3132 and vice-versa from TBI to TLK3132 SERDES interface. Can you please confirm it?

Hi C.Pradeep,

Yes, with the device operating in the TBI mode, Ethernet compliant serial input (with 8b/10b encoded data) can be deserialized into 10-bit parallel data, and 10-bit parallel input data (valid 8b/10b codes) can be serialized into 8b/10b encoded serial data.
