TUSB1046A-DCI: Clarification regarding data rate supported by crosspoint switch

Part Number: TUSB1046A-DCI
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB1064

Hi,

We are using  TUSB1046A-DCI in our application. We want to use 2 SS lanes for DP port for connecting display and 2 SS lanes(from type C connector) for USB data. As per datasheet, each DP lane supporting 8.1Gbps. So two DP lanes data rate is 8.1Gbps * 2 =  16.2 Gbps and USB 3.1 Gen2 supports 10Gbps. As per this, my understanding is that we need to have Thunderbolt enabled Type C connector at the source to provide this high data rates. Please let us know my understanding is correct. If thunderbolt is not the option, which type of USB can be used at the source? Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks in advance.
