MAX3243E: Is output voltage the same in different VCC?

Part Number: MAX3243E

Hi

I have question

when I set VCC = 5V and VCC=3, the output voltage is the same?

And if VCC drop from 5V to 4V , the output voltage is also the same ?

  • Hi Dimitry,

The DOUT voltages will depend on the V+ and V- rail voltages. These are generated from VCC using a charge pump. Whether the VCC voltage is 3.3 V or 5 V, the minimum charge pump output voltage will remain the same (since this is regulated by the device to be something larger than 5 V in order to meet RS-232 requirements). However, you may see slightly different ripple amplitude and frequency when using different VCC values as well as different capacitance values. For more information on the charge pump operation you might want to reference this blog post:
