DP83822I: How to judge whether the signal is no problem or problem.

 Hello guys,

 One of my customers is evaluating DP83822I on their own PCB with the attached configuration.

 They want the answers for the following questions.

 Could you please give me your answer for the questions?

Q1. How to judge whether the signal is no problem or problem

   Is there any document for judging?

Q2. What is recommend voltage level of signal receiving terminal (RD_P, RD_M)?

     Is ther any information or regulation for the terminals?

    Q1. Typically IEEE compliance will be run by a customer to determine if an Ethernet design is acceptable. That process is done with specialized test suite on an oscilloscope. Or it is done by setting up the tests as shown in IEEE standards. We have an app note discussing setting up the testing if using an automated compliance suite. www.ti.com/.../snla266

    Q2. The RD thresholds are not specified as per IEEE. The TX VOD is specified and the media is specified by IEEE. The receiver of the DP83822 is tested with the worst case conditions of both VOD and cabling. When doing IEEE compliance, only the TX parameters are tested.

  • Hi Kazuya,

    The worst case channel and VOD is captured in the IEEE specification. Please get it from IEEE 802.3 specification. Clause 25 handles 100base-tx.
