Linux/TCA9539: regarding tca9539 io expander

Hi,

we are using 4 numbers of tca9539 i2c expanders for our board. 3 ics(tca9539) for gpios and one for interrupts. my question is the existing gpio-pca953x.c driver present in Linux kernel will work for our design or not?

if it doesn't then what modifications we have to do?

Hello Priyanka11,

We do not actually provide driver support for our I2C devices but focus on the analog support. However, I can tell you our TCA9539 was meant to replace PCA9539 so if the driver for linux works for the PCA9539 then it will work with our TCA9539. Other than that I would check to see if the driver has the correct register addresses.

If you are seeing issues with communication with our device, questions on how to configuration registers, or need help debugging any waveforms. Please let us know.

Hi priyanka11,

TCA9539's register information is in section 8.6.2 page 21 of the datasheet.

PCA9535's register information is in section 8.3.2.2 page 18 of the datasheet.

Hey Priyanka,

Our device does not have a ACPI ID. I had to discuss with the systems engineer about this, it looks like ACPI is something used in the server industry. Our devices were made broad use and not tailored specifically for servers so they were not designed with a ACPI ID in mind.
