DS90UB953-Q1: 953/954 POC problems

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1

I have a working 4k60 (10bit raw Bayer data) system using a Sony image sensor, a couple of fpgas, two 953’s, and a 954.  I can take the image from the sensor, split it into two frames of even and odd lines, send the two 2k60 frames to the two 953’s as CSI-2 MIPI and output them on two runs of 25’ coax.  The receiving 954 can rebuild the two streams into the original image sensor frame and output it as MIPI CSI-2 to a co-processor.  I can do this consistently as long as I do not use the POC.

My EVM board is physically 1 piece of FR4 but it actually has both the sensor board and receiver board on it.  (completely separate grounds, power everything..  there are no conductive connections between the two sections at all).  I have shunts that I can short to get 12 volts and ground from the receiver section over to the sensor section.  As long as I use the shunts (and completely disconnect the POC circuit paths from the coax) I can send the 4k60 video data correctly, receive it, and rebuild it into the original sensor frame.  If I remove the shunts and reconnect the POC filter circuits I cannot pass the data.  It may start and run for a second or two but then it will fail.  It often does not even start (meaning that in some cases the 954 never outputs any CSI-2 data).

Also, I have an intermittent lock when running POC.  It will be mostly locked but it does drop out some.  I do not see this when I am using the shunts (and disconnect the POC circuit).

Note: If I try to use the shunts but keep the POC circuit intact I also cannot pass the data.

I am including jpgs of my POC circuits so you can see what I am doing.

953_POC image: (there are two of these circuits)

FB11 = 60ohms @ 100Mhz, DCR = 0.3ohms, Im = 500mA

FB12 = 330ohms @ 100Mhz, DCR = 0.8ohms, Im = 2A

L4 = 10uH, DCRmax = 0.24ohms, Isat = 810mA,  Murata LQH3NPZ100MJR

Caps are X5R and values are as shown.

Resistors are as shown.

In regard to the 954_POC image:

FB4 = 60ohms @ 100Mhz, DCR = 0.3ohms, Im = 500mA

FB5 = 330ohms @ 100Mhz, DCR = 0.8ohms, Im = 2A

L1 = 10uH, DCRmax = 0.24ohms, Isat = 810mA, Murata LQH3NPZ100MJR

FB1 = this is actually two ferrites in series as follows:

            FB1a = 600ohms @ 100Mhz, DCR = 0.2ohms, Im = 1A

            FB1b = 300ohms @ 100Mhz, DCR = 0.15ohms, Im = 2A

Caps are X5R and values are as shown.

Resistors are as shown.

I am feeding two switchers from one Coax and two other switchers from the other Coax.  Total power delivered is about 4watts at 12volts so you can see I am not over-stressing the power.

Coax is “ALPHA WIRE-TN P/N 9316 MIL-DTL17 M17/113-RG316 12814 E346462 1C 26 AWG SHIELDED 200C CMG FT4”

I need some help getting this thing running with POC….

thanks,

david
