TCA8418: What is the proper startup procedure for the TCA8418 to recognize keys held before power-up?

I have a case where a user should hold down a few keys before powering the device.  

Is there a way for the TCA8418 to pick up these held keys and generate an interrupt when it starts execution?

I have tried various initialization sequences, but I'm not seeing it possible to capture exisitng pressed keys.
