SN65DP159: Questions about SN65DP159

Part Number: SN65DP159
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDS171
Hello.

I have a question about the operation of SN 65DP 159.
For details, please see the attached document.
Thank you.

For HDMI1.4b a transmitter termination of 150 Ω to 300 Ω is allowed for data rates above 2 Gbps to compensate for reflections. For HDMI2.0a the 75 Ω to 150 Ω transmitter termination is required and the link will not work if this is not set.

But data rate and termination are two separate controls, they can be set independent of each other.

HPD_SNK is not gated by I2C_EN, when source is changing between HDMI1.4 and 2.0, HPD_SNK needs to be toggled regardless whether I2C_EN is high or low. But in I2C mode, besides use HPD_SNK to force the change, you can also use PD_EN.

Would you please provide more detail on question #3?

    Thanks
    David
  • Hello

    Thank you for answering.

    Q3 will be described.
A color shift occurred with TDMS 171 and received correspondence.
    It becomes E2E below.

    Title: TMDS 171: Color shift
    e2e.ti.com/.../2348932

Title: SN 65 DP 159: question about SN 65 DP 159
    e2e.ti.com/.../712499

I received countermeasures to send equipment.
At this time, we corresponded by e-mail individually.

    A shadow register is prepared,
Data was written to this register and handled.

Regarding SN65DP159, I think that the address of the register etc is different from TMDS171.
So, please tell me the countermeasure method.

    Thank you.

Do you know the name and address of register being used with TMDS171?

If not, I need to check with Julie-san on the history of this color shift problem. Unfortunately, she is out of office. I will provided an update as soon as she is back in the office.

    Thanks
    David

I think Julie-san has already provided response in a separate e2e ticket, please confirm this to be the case.

    Thanks
