TPS65981: Maximum power consumption

Hello,

My customer is asking the maximum power consumption of TPS65981.

I found a TYP power consumption data for a certain case in the datasheet, P10, “7.7 Power Consumption Characteristics”.

But is anything max power consumption data available?

Hi Oba,

The max power consumption is dependent on GPIO Usage and LDO_3V3 Current. We do not specify this value as it can vary largely from system to system.

Hello,

I’m sorry for my late response.

They don’t use GPIOs.

I understand that it is not easy to define max power, but to fix the power budget, they have to understand it roughly.

Can’t you suggest any very rough max value? They can’t image how much power could be increased from this TYP value.

Hi Oba,

I would suggest using the Typical power consumption numbers in that case and add the power consumption by the SPI Flash and any other devices on LDO_3V3 pin.

But TYP value can't be used for estimating power budget. I need something max value.
Do you mean this TYP value will not increase so much like double or triple depending on the use case (not using GPIO)?

Hi Oba,

Yes, the "Max" consumption after subtracting GPIO and SPI Flash consumption would be close to the Typ value.
