Have a question brought up from one of the design engineers with a customer. They are wanting to program the TPS65981 blank SPI flash firmware over the I2C bus during manufacturing, but noticed that the TPS65981 only supports SPI flash updates if the SPI flash is already programmed. Does the TPS65981 support SPI flash updates of blank SPI flashes?
I believe the answer is no because from what I understand the PD controller will not be able to boot up without the SPI flash programmed. Do you know have any recommendations for the best way for our customer to proceed with their programming throughout manufacturing?
