TPS65987D: use case of external power path

Hi Team,

I saw GPIO16 and GPIO17 can be used for enable signal of external power path.
What is use case of external power path?
I can't image an use case of external power path because TPS65987D has two bidirectional paths which support 100W (20V/5A).

    In some cases customers would like to use external power paths to support higher peak currents or to support an additional power path to get lower Rdson.
