TCA9517: Asking for the TCA9517 design

Part Number: TCA9517

Hi team,
can TCA9517 use as buffer only? suppose to VCCA and VCCB connect to 3.3V that can implement buffer function according to d/s figure 9 typical series application.

BR,
SHH

  • Hey SHH,

Yes, you can use TCA9517 at VccA=VccB=3.3V. The thing you need to keep in mind when using buffers in series is to make sure the sides with static voltage offsets are not connected to each other. This means B side of TCA9517 cannot connect to another B side TCA9517. A to A and A to B is okay but not B to B.

    Thanks,

    -Bobby

  • Hi Bobby,
Thanks. What is the input and output capacitance on TCA8517?
the HDMI DDC request the spec is 50pF.

  • Hey SHH,

TCA9517 has a maximum capacitance of 13pF and a typical of about 8pF. The testing done to certify this device may not work with our B side because it has a static voltage offset on B side which will conduct during the capacitance measure and give a false capacitance value much larger than 50pF. Your testing needs to be done on A side.

    Thanks,
    -Bobby
