Hi Team,

For our SN75LVCP600S, the electrical spec below shows the rise and fall time for SATA/SAS 6 Gbps.

Is this also applicable for SATA 3 Gbps?

If not, do we have rise and fall times for SATA 3?

We measured the rise and fall times below.

TXD_P/N:

Rise Time 139.52 ps

Fall Time 134.66 ps

RXD_P/N:

Rise Time 117.47 ps

Fall Time 108.31 ps

we have 8G SATA device SN75LVPE801, typical rise/fall time is 58ps.

Hi Brian,

Is it expected with faster SATA rate, that the rise/fall time decreases?
We're trying to understand if the measured rise/fall time makes sense for 3G or should it be within the spec on the datasheet.

sorry, I thought you need SATA3.
yes, at faster SATA rate, rise/fall should decrease, your data is make sense, did you measure at 20%-80%?

Yes this was measured at 20%-80%.

Can we agree that there is no concerns with the measured rise and fall times for SATA3?

HiJoey,

The measured times are slower than I would expect at our device output. The edge rates will slow down naturally as you move away from the device. I do not think there should be a concern, but I think it would be great if you can post a picture of the waveform.
