TPD12S016: used as source or receiver -- does it make any difference ?

Dear team,

My customer plans on having an end-equipment featuring both a HDMI input and an HDMI output.

Does it make any difference for the TPD12S016 ? I don't see why it would since the I2C is bidirectional. The only unused feature in case of receiver is the 5V load switch.

Please let me know if I miss something here.

    You are correct that the part will function correctly as either an input or an output as long as the load switch is bypassed for the input case.

    Also make sure your customer connects the port side connections to the port so the ESD functions correctly.
