Could you please let me know your recommended device for following requirements?

USB port : TypeC UFP

Support PD detection (TypeC to TypeC, If DFP is not support PD, 5V/1.5A)

Support BC1.2 detection (typeA to TypeC)

Support port detection (A to C, C to C)

(want) support POWER IQ and QC detection

USB3.1

Power : In case of PD, 9V/3A(27W). in case of Non-PD, 5V/1.5A. (under 900mA is not accepted)

If it is connected 4.5W port, customer want alert signal.

Pass compliance test

Can we promote TPS65987D?

Could you please let me know your concerns? Also please tell me the reference design for this requirements.

Hi Mukuno-san,

The TPS65987D would be the best fit for this application. Below are a few concerns to be considered:

- TI PD controllers do not support Power IQ or QC detection. These are non-standard charging methods.

- If it is connected to 4.5W port, we would not send an alert signal. They would need to implement this through an embedded controller. They can check the register contents of TPS65987D to determine what is connected.

- The TPS65987D would still accept power from devices under 900mA. If this is undesired, the customer can determine when to close the power switch using an embedded controller and I2C commands.
