DS90UB953-Q1: Non Synchronous external clock mode

Hi Team,

Table 6 shows the following however I believe the red part "Back Channel (Half Rate)" is typo and "External clock" is correct.
Is my understanding correct?

I believe it is typo because it is "Non Synchronous external clock" mode.

Best Regards,
Yaita

  • Hello,

Yes, your understanding is correct. This is a typo and will be corrected in the next d/s revision.
  • Hi Hamzeh-san,

    Thank you for your support.

If it is typo, I believe the system doesn't operate if external clock isn't applied to CLKIN in Non-Synchronous external clock mode.
    Is my understanding correct?

I had a talk with my customer a little while ago and heard CLKIN is open in his system however his system operates although Non-Synchronous external clock mode is used.
    It is curious for me..
How do you think about it?

    Best Regards,
    Yaita

  • Hello Yaita-san,

    1) yes, your understanding is correct.
    2) This is not possible. If they are using the Non-Synch external clock mode then they must have an external clock source connected to CLKIN of the 953.
I believe it was running on another clocking mode!!
