TPS65988: External Source Power Path option

Hi Experts,

I’d like to just clarify PP_EXT Power Path control. As far as I checked 988 datasheet and EVM, TPS65988 seems to support just External Sink Power Path. Regarding TPS65988’s source path, customer should use internal power paths.

Is that correct? I mean, I’d like to know if TPS65988 has External Source Power Path option, or not.

    Hi Miyazaki-san,

    The TPS65988 could support an external source path. However, this is not the recommended use. The source path in a USB Type-C system must implement OCP and RCP, the external path on TPS65988 could not do this. Only the internal path integrates OCP and RCP.

    It is recommended to follow the TPS65988 power path architecture and use the internal paths as the source paths and the external paths as the sink paths.
