TUSB320: Switch from UFP to DFP Mode without loosing USB connection

Hello together,

is it in DRP Mode possible to switch from UFP to DFP and reverse without have a new USB connecting sequence. In our application a Smartphone with USB C-Type connection to an external GPS Receiver in OTG Mode, the communication should be stable on connecting and disconnecting the charger. Is this configuration possible?

TUSB320LAI/HAI version should allow you to switch between UFP/DFP after a connection using I2C

Is it for USB C connections generally possible to switch from UFP to DFP mode without a reconnection between Host and Device? The key feature of our system should be to have a stable connection between the external GPS receifer and the Smartphone during a USB Power Role Swap.

The TUSB320 is a USB-C CC controller not a PD controller. It does not support Power Role swaps. Power Role Swap requires a PD controller. You can change the TUSB320 role by writing to the MODE_SELECT register. But this will definitely cause a disconnect followed by a reconnect.

Thank you verry much for information, do you have a example for a PD Controller that is able to manage a Power Role Swap without have a reconnection to the attached device?
