Dear Technical Support,
I have two questions about capacitor for charge pump.
①Datasheet shows 3 situation about capacitor for charge pump.
When Vcc = 5V, which case is better , "5 V ± 0.5 V" or "3 V to 5.5 V"?
I'd like to use "3 V to 5.5 V" , because type of capacitor is less than "5 V ± 0.5 V".
② When the capacitor value is based on "3 V to 5.5 V" of ①, is Voh/Vol guaranteed ?
Note of datasheet shows only "5 V ± 0.5 V".
Best Regards,
ttd
Hi,
1) For 5V supply, both configurations are OK. "3V to 5.5V" case may generate a little higher ripples than "5 V ± 0.5 V" case. The detail is discussed in this blog.
2) It's a good observation. Minimum 5V comes from RS-232 standard, therefore MAX3243E should support it under all supply conditions.
Please let me know if you have more questions.
Regards,
Hao
