TUSB9261: USB2.0 can connect, but USB3.0 can't connect

Hi Team，

My Customer Use TUSB9261 with FW(TUSB926x_FW_v1.06_SATA_NO_POLARITY_SWAP.bin) for USB 3.0 to SATA HDD.

Problems encountered as follows：

1,USB3.0 Cannot Successful communication when DP,DM is not connected.

2,USB3.0 Can Successful communication when DP,DM is connected.Disconnecting DP,DM does not affect when it is already communicating normally.

USB3.0 communication does not require connection to DP,DM Normally.

So,We think that the FW uses the DP,DM in the communication handshake.If the DP,DM is not connected, the handshake cannot be performed.

Our PCB has been completed.Can We solve this problem by modifying the software（ Firmware）?Thanks!!

Hi Vinson,

The USB 3.0 specification requires USB 3.0 devices have USB 2.0 connections as well. The TUSB9261 does not use the USB 2.0 (DP/DM) lines for any signaling in USB 3.0 SuperSpeed mode, but it is possible the host controller enumerates the TUSB9261 as a USB 2.0 device first and then a USB 3.0 device. Can you try this with another USB host?

The USB 2.0 signals should not be required, we will modify a cable and test in the lab.

Hi Vinson,

We modified a cable - disconnecting DP and DM and we had no issue with TUSB9261 connecting and operating as usual.

Please confirm that the customer system is truly connecting at SuperSpeed using usbview or similar tool.
