SN65MLVD203: Using dummy loads in unloaded slots on the backplane for uniform and consistent loading of the bus

Part Number: SN65MLVD203
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65MLVD202A

I am designing multipoint backplane for a centralized control system.  When a slot is not filled with a control module, the slot must be filled with a protective cover.  If I fill the unpopulated slot with a dummy load that is equivalent to a MLVDS transceiver will this be better than leaving it blank insofar as signal integrity is concerned?  I am not concerned with the minor power consumption.  Data rates will be less than 100Mbps and the slot spacing may be between 12mm and 15mm.
