TPS65981: Does Utilities GUI need to select flash vendor as FW update?

Hi Team,

We use TPS65981 EVM and Aardvark tool to update FW.

Since the "Flash Center" need to select flash vendor and p/n in the beginning, so we are curious why "TPS6598x Utilities GUI" don't have this selection item?

TPS65981 EVM is using TPS65981 + W25Q80DVSNIG. If we use TPS65981 + MX25R8035FZUIH1, can we update FW successfully by "TPS6598x Utilities GUI"?

    Hi Daniel,

    The TPS6598x utilities GUI does not need to know what SPI Flash is being used as it follows standard SPI mechanism for updating the flash. The main reason why Total Phase GUI uses it is that they check the size of the flash and the size of the image to make sure the image will fit. We do not implement this check.
