Hi Team,

Do we have any products that could be used as a repeater or range extender for FPD Link using the DS90UB947-Q1 and DS90UB948-Q1 ? I have a customer that wants to transmit a FPD Link signal over 60m of cable, but the insertion loss would be too high for such a length of cable. Would it be possible to use a SDI cable driver between the FPD Link Transceivers to boost and recover the signal. e.g.:

DS90UB947-Q1 ----> LMH0302 -------------- Coax ----------------> LMH0344 -----> DS90UB948-Q1

Do you have any other suggestions to make this application work?

Hello,
this device is not compatible. It has 75 ohm impedance and it does not support back channel communications.
It is recommended that you use the same 947 and 948 as a repeater, and this can be used up to 3 times in series. See UB947 datasheet section "8.3.14.1 Repeater Configuration"

Interesting. So if I cascade 3x 947 and 948, would Power over Coax be transmittable as well? Could I power the 947 and 948 pairs over the coax cable?

Hello Mihir,

if you want to power the repeater from one cable then it is recommended to use an STP or STQ cable (not Coax) due to higher current support.
