TPS65987D: Interoperability Tests and Certification

Part Number: TPS65987D

Hello all,

We have built the first prototypes of a product with the the TPS65987D PD Controller and are conducting testing on it.

Our customer plans to build the systems with a worldwide deployment of 25,000+ units. Despite the Controller Datasheet specifies that it is USB PD, Type C and BC 1.2 compliant, we need to define test cases for interoperability with the USB device on the other end of the port.

Is there any TI documentation to support this? Can someone please provide the guidelines for such tests?

Thank you

  • Hello Rachit,

Thank you for posting your question here on E2E. We do not have such a document because what you are describing typically falls under the responsibility of the end device manufacturer. We design our parts so that they are compliant to USB specifications by themselves, but the responsibility to test if an end product is compatible with other devices typically falls on the customer that is designing the end product.

There are some resources out there to help define these tests such as the USB-IF compliance program (www.usb.org/compliance) and reaching out to company's such as Allion that will help you test your device in ways you see fit (www.allion.com/

Hopefully this helps answer your question
