RS 422 MUX IC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX1574, TMUX6136

Hi all

I'm looking for a RS422 IC MUX 2:1 .

Is that IC exists?

  • Avi Ben Maor,

Any of TI's signal switches can support any signal standard as long as the voltage and bandwidth of the signal standard are within the switches' recommended operating conditions.

The RS-422 standard has 4 signal paths so you will need to find a switch with the channel count of 4 or a combination of using 2 x 2channel switch.

The TI signal switches are passive FET switches are bi-directional so you can search for a 2:1 configuration.

For RS422 the voltage range can be +/-6V.  What is the voltage range you will operate?  This will be the difficult spec to match in the TI switch offering.

And the datarate can be up to 10Mps so we would recommended a switch with a bandwidth spec of 1.5 x datarate or 15MHz.

You can use ti.com switch selection tool so search for configuration 2:1, channel count >4, bandwidth >15MHz, and voltage range depending on your application.

If you are operating single ended 0 to 5 V signals I would recommend the TMUX1574.  If you are operation +/-6 V I would recommend TMUX6136 with a dual supply.

    Thank you,

    Adam
