TCAN1042HGV: support CAN2.0 and I/O 1.8V

Part Number: TCAN1042HGV

Hi Sirs,

Sorry to bother you .

As title,

1. Does TCAN1042HGV have support CAN2.0? Because competitor MCP2542FD could but we don't saw this key word on TI datasheet.

2. Looks TCAN1042HGV I/O only support 3-5.5v, right?  TI have other can transceiver solution support I/O 1.8V ?

Thanks!!

  • Hello,

Yes, TCAN1042 can support CAN 2.0B. This doesn't show up in the datasheet since it relates more to the data protocol rather than the physical layer, so it is not directly relevant to a transceiver device.

You are right that TCAN1042 can support IO voltages only as low as 3 V. Our newer TCAN1044 device will support 1.8 V VIO, though. Its preview datasheet is on ti.com now, and the device will enter full production later this year.

    Regards,
    Max
