SN65HVD1040-Q1: Wake up based on message rate

Part Number: SN65HVD1040-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65HVD1040

Hi Team,

My customer is looking at the SN65HVD1040 and has a question around the wake-up side.

I was looking at TI’s SN65HVD1040 Low-Power CAN Bus Transceiver as a potential part [for our OBD2 Port Application]. (open to other possibilities)

Can this chip wake up from a threshold message rate?  There are some slow pace messages present at the port from door open/remote unlock/etc (that we would prefer to ignore) then considerably more traffic when the vehicle is actually keyed on and running (which we would want to take action on).

Regards,

~John

  • Hey John,

I've assigned this thread to one of our engineers however he is currently on business travel, please excuse any delay in getting back to you.

    Thanks,

  • John,

The bus must be held dominant for 5us for the low-power bus monitor to register a bus wake-up. This equates to a speed of 200kHz, what kind of data rates is the customer considering for "slow pace" and when the vehicle is "actually keyed on and running"?

    Regards,
