TUSB8042: Can TUSB8042 handle 4 usb devices enum at the same time?

Part Number: TUSB8042

Hi

My customer plan to use TUSB8042 for their design. In our application. 4 USB devices will be connected to TUSB8042 first. Then TUSB8042 connect to the host.

Thus these 4 USB devices will be enum at the same time. Did you see any risk of enum failure of the 4 devices ?

We had tested some USB hub in the market and see enum failure in this way. And would like to check TUSB8042 got similar problem or not.

  • TUSB8042 will enum one by one, can not enum at same time.
  • Hello,

Functionally, there is no issue with connecting a hub with 4 devices attached. As Brian Zhou noted, the USB host will enumerate each device in series - usually starting with Port 1 but it will appear simultaneous to the end user. Please be sure that enough 5V current is provided to the downstream ports to support all 4 devices powering on at the same time.
