DS280BR820: Can DS280BR820 be used for 12G SDI signal transmission?

Hi,

We know that DS280BR820 can be used for Optical and Passive Copper (100G-SR4/LR4/CR4) application. Now we want to know if DS280BR820 can be used for 12G SDI signal transmission.

Our board is large and the line on the board is long , and there are 12 SDI interface in our system. We want use the DS280BR820 to achieve Backplane Reach Extension from 12G SDI interface to CPU in our board,

The DS280BR820 should work well in a 12G application. The equalizer is not quite as powerful at these lower frequencies, but the performance is still very good.

Hi Lee,
Thanks for your quickly response. Another question is if there are 3G/SD SDI interface in our system except 12G, due to the lower frequency,
We hope there are bypass function for 3G/SD SDI signals in DS280BR820. We want to know if DS280BR820 has this bypss functions? thanks very much.

The DS280BR820 can be operated in a linear mode with EQ Bypass. This will allow the signals to pass without applying significant CTLE gain.
The EQ_Bypass register is in Register 0x04 bit [0] shown in page 26 of the datasheet.
