I have a customer designing with a '953/'954 serializer/deserializer pair, and we have a question concerning raw data. In the case the TI953 gets raw data, do they need a HDMI to CSI-2 converter in the chain, or is it possible for the raw data from the HDMI pins to be mapped directly to the CSI-2 connector on the TI953? They are investigating the case of the sensors only outputting raw data or in the case where we use lidar and/or ultrasonic sensors.

Hello Carolus,
you can't connect HDMI interface directly to the CSI interface of the 953.

Thank you for the response. Are there any HDMI --> CSI devices you would recommend that could perform the conversion to help expedite their research?

The only solution I can think of it is using our 949 SER (HDMI input) paired with the 940 DES (CSI output) which they may connect to the 953 input.
