Hi,
it is confusing, the 3.3V input to the PD controller need almost no current, and the LDO output can supply it and more.
can i use the LDO output to supply the PD controller ?
it say in the data sheet that you can connect it through a switch, what do that means, what would be the right way to do that if it possible.
thank you
Hello Elad,
We do not recommend having VIN3V3 being supplied by LDO3V3. If you look at the datasheet, the core digital circuitry is powered up from VIN3V3, and then outputs a voltage to LDO3V3 from VIN3V3. If you power VIN3V3 from LDO3V3, the device will never boot up in a normal scenario. You can refer to the the TPS65987-90EVM on how to power up the TPS65987D properly. We have a dc-dc that takes the system power (20V barrel jack) and buck that down to 3.3V.
As far as connecting a switch to VIN3V3, some customers wish to control when the TPS65987D is powered up and have a switch controlled by a central EC.
