DS90UB953-Q1: DS90UB953 CLOCK MODE QUESTION

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1

Hi team,

If we can use an REF(crystal oscillator) to camera, and then use the camera's PCLK as the reference clock of DS90UB953 ? Thank you.

Best regards

Jessica

  • Jessica,

Is the imager output CSI-2? Typically for CSI-2 imagers it is more common to have the 953 either use synchronous mode (no local REFCLK needed when connected to a 960 or 954). Or to provide the REFCLK to the 953 and then have the 953 provide a reference clock to the imager based on an M/N divider. The 953 clocking modes are described in Table 6 of the datasheet.

    Best Regards,
    Casey
  • Hi Casey,

Thank you very much for your reply.

As to customer's application, they want to use the REF to the sensor, but not sure if there have any other effect . We can see the D/S only mentioned the REF for 953/954 ,but not show the way to give a REF to image sensor and then use PCLK as the ref of 953, so we want to confirm if this kind of application is viable.

    Thank you very much.

    Best regards

  • Jessica,

This type of Clocking is not recommended.

You can use the REFCLK connected to the SER and then connect the SER CLKOUT to the Image sensor. Or you can use the Back channel synchronous clocking mode where you have the REFCLK connected to the DES only.
