TUSB551: TUSB551: Do you have some ideas about near the connector or CPU for the ?

Part Number: TUSB551

My customer wants to use the TUSB551 in X86 board. The distance between CPU and interface is 35inch.

Since TUSB551 is a single-channel re-driver, it can only compensating the CPU TX --- TUSB551 --- Recevier socket

How do I assign a distance of 35 inches?

Put TUSB551 in the middle of the CPU and receiver?

Or

Put TUSB551 in the position close to the CPU, or in the position close to Receiver socket?

  • Seasat,

The placement of TUSB551 is dependent upon the insertion loss of the pre-channel and post-channel. If the customer know the insertion loss characteristics of their PCB at 5Gbps then they can estimate where TUSB551 should be placed. One general rule is that pre-channel insertion loss should not exceed the max EQ of TUSB551.
