SN65HVD1050: CMC Recommendation for CAN lines.

Part Number: SN65HVD1050

Hi,

We are going to use CAN interface in our board. The CAN lines are communicated through Twisted pair cable for long distance. We are more concern about the EMI radiation.

I want to add CMC filter in the CAN signal line which can able to reduce the EMI radiation.

I want to knoe the Recommended ratings for CMC filter.  I need to know the following informations.

1. Impedance for CMC @ specific frequency ?

2. Current rating (Current flowing through CAN signals lines are in range of uA, so no need to worry)

3. Voltage rating (Voltage about 5V is enough I think)

Impedance for CMC seems to be the important parameter. If anyone recommend the CMC part number, it would be very useful.

Thanks,

M.Arunkumar

  • M. Arunkumar,

The choke we typically recommend is the ACT45B-101-2P. This has 100uH common-mode inductance, 5800 ohms impedance at 10MHz, a DC resistance of 2 ohms, rated voltage, and a rated current of 150mA. Another device we have used in our labs with similar performance to the ACT device is the ACW-4532-B-2-101, the only main parameter difference is the rated current is at 200mA.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

    Regards,
