DS90UB954-Q1: How to change from Synchronous mode to Non-syncronous mode

Hi team,

We are considering in 953-954 system in Non-synchronous mode.

I have created a board in synchronous mode before.

I intend to use the deserializer that I made before, but since I do not want to change the part mounting, I will change to the Non-synchronous mode by register setting after starting in synchronous mode.

In this case, is the register that needs to be changed only 0x58 [2: 0] BC_FREQ_SELECT?

Changing from 110:50Mbps to 010:10Mbps.

Hello Tomoaki,

on the 954 you need to change only register 0x58. But in the 953 you need to use an external clock source and you will need to change the resistors values on the Mode Pin to strap to the Non-Synch mode.

Yes, we will make a new board for Non-synchronous 953 board and use only Synchronous 954 board.

Tomoaki-San,

one more thing; please use 100nF and 47nF (instead of 33nF and 15nF) AC coupling Caps on the 954 board to be compatible with Synch and Non-Synch modes.
