DS90LV001: DS90LV001 - Can it be used as a MIPI Buffer ?

Part Number: DS90LV001
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65DPHY440SS

Hi,

I have 4 lane MIPI to which i will be connecting a MIPI Display.

The distance between the MIPI Controller and the display is greater than 100mm so I thought of using a MIPI Buffer.

TI has MIPI buffer like SN65DPHY440SSRHRR.

But problem is, I want a passive buffer i.e i dont want any digital interface on the buffer to configure the settings. But this MIPI buffer comes with I2C interface.

I found there are simple LVDS buffers like DS90LV001.

Could DS90LV001 be used for my application ?

Thanks and regards,

Karthik

  • Hello Karthik,

No; a simple LVDS buffer cannot be used for this purpose since there are different voltage levels in LP vs. HS modes. The buffer will always output standard LVDS voltage levels.

You may be able to use the SN65DPHY440SS in default state (without programming via I2C), but this depends on the characteristics of your channel. If you have follow up questions on SN65DPHY440SS, please post a new e2e question so that it gets routed to the right people who support that device.

    Regards,
