TUSB9261-Q1: About FW ver.1.06

Part Number: TUSB9261-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB9261

About FW

I downloaded FW (v 1.06) from your website and checked the file. There were a total of 5 bin files. Please tell me how to use each bin file.

1. TUSB926x_FW_v1.06.bin(hex)
・Alternate SATA Polarity FW フォルダ
2. TUSB926x_FW_v1.06_SATA_NO_POLARITY_SWAP.bin
3. TUSB926x_FW_v1.06_SATA_POLARITY_SWAP_BOTH.bin
4. TUSB926x_FW_v1.06_SATA_POLARITY_SWAP_RX.bin

(Supplement)
When I wrote 1 in our PCB and connected it to a PC, the device was not recognized. On the other hand, when writing 2, since the device was recognized, please tell me the proper use.

5. There are 3 patterns of FW which changed the polarity of SATA, but please tell me the background if you don't mind and you know why 3 patterns are prepared.

  • Hi,

We will look into this and get back to you.
  • Hi,

Located in the "readme.txt file" in the "/TUSB926x Firmware/Alternate SATA Polarity FW/" directory:

"The default firmware swaps the polarity of the SATA Tx signal pair per TI's reference board design. Depending on your particular board layout, you may require an alternate polarity setup for the SATA Tx and Rx signals. These firmware binaries are provided for that usage."

They are prepared so that the firmware can work in any hardware design configuration.  By Default, TUSB9261 DEMO EVM by Texas Instruments swaps the Tx signal pair polarity.  In your design, you may choose to not to swap the polarity.  In this case, you would use the "...SATA_NO_POLARITY_SWAP.bin" firmware.

    Regards,
