TPD8S300: SBU OVP threshold seemed to be too large when used with the TUSB564

Part Number: TPD8S300
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB564, TPS65982,

Hi Team,

My customer uses the TPD8S300, TPS65982 and TUSB564 in an UFP application.

We noticed that the abs max. rating of the SBU pins of the TUSB564 is 4 V while the min. SBU OVP threshold of the TPD8S300 is 4.35 V.

In that case, the TUSB564 may have issue before the TPD8S300 could react to the fault condition. Do you have any suggestion for this?

Thanks!

Roy Hsu

  • Hello Roy,

That could potentially damage the TUSB564. The 4.35V is the lowest threshold that we have for Type-C short to VBUS protection. I would recommend reaching out to the team responsible for supporting the TUSB564 to see if they have any other parts with a higher threshold voltage.
