Hi All,

I wanted to know if it was possible to have an FPD-Link III connection between UB953 and UB960 through PCB trace( if we maintain 100 ohm differential impedance between the DOUT and DOUT-) instead of RF Coaxial cable? If yes, do you have any application note regarding the same or are there any specific things to take into concern for the same?

Hi Nishant,
Yes, it can work. You can link 953 and 960 through the PCB trace. For this application, the EQ can be fixed as "0" as the PCB trace could be shorter in one board.

for the hardware design, it is same between cable and PCB trace. Pls use AC coupling solution.

Hi Steven,

Could you elaborate on the AC Coupling solution? Also I wanted to know the minimum distance required for such a design between UB953 and UB960. Because when I had asked this question earlier for coax cable, I was told to keep the minimum distance to be 1.2-1.5 feet at least. If routed through PCB, do we have any min distance for FPD-Link III?

Hello,

The FPD-Link is designed for cable application with EQ, but for your case, as the noise in the transmission medium (PCB board, FR4?) is better than cable, the 953/960 system can work well. The AC coupling cap can be 0.33uF in your link.

also, what is the video signal in your application?
