TPS65987D: Active RDO is always switched from 0v to 9v

Part Number: TPS65987D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65981

Hi, Ti:

we use our board as source, and use TPS65987EVM as sink, to debug whether SOURCE device can charge 9v to SINK device ,

here is these two boards's config

TPS65987D-Source.pjt

TPS65987D EVM_SINK_Upstream-facing Port.pjt

when I use TPS65981_2_6_7_8 Application Customization 5.1 to debug sink device(EVM board), I saw Active Contract RDO(0x35) is always switcheing from 0A to 2A,

and Active Contract PDO(0x34) is always switch from 0V/0A to 9V/2A

  • Hi Carson,

It looks like the device you are connecting supports a 9V/2A PDO. I'm not sure exactly what the issue is, are you seeing VBUS go away and come back?
I would suggest taking a PD trace using a PD analyzer to help determine what is going on. Below is a link to a PD analyzer I would suggest using for your USB Type-C PD projects:

    Thanks,
    Eric
