DS280DF810: Using the part outside of supported ranges

Part Number: DS280DF810

I have an application that will operate at 100GE and 10GE but also needs to operate 2.5G which is outside of the CDR operation range. I tried setting to raw mode data and disabling the CDR to do this. Should this work? I'm not seeing data. The device is set to not mute data if CDR is not locked? Can the device be programmed in what would appear to by a bypass, non retiming, mode?

Hi Edward,

Please let me know if you have access to the DS280DF810 Programming Guide. In this document, you can find procedure for setting the device in RAW mode.

Here is a summary: There are two registers - Reg 0x1E[7:5] and Reg 0xA5 that define pre and post lock modes respectively.

To enable RAW mode before device is locked:

Reg 0x09[5] = 1b1

Reg 0xA5[7:5] = 3'000

To enable RAW mode after device is locked:

Reg 0x09[5] = 1b1

Reg 0x1E[7:5] = 3'000

Thanks, it gets me closer. I have a rev C version of the programmers guide. If there is a later one how do I get it?
