TPS25740B: EVM Current Capability

Hi,

Testing the TPS25740B EVM straight out of the box with my typeC PD phone, I only see 9V/1.3A, whereas I can measure the full 9V/2A with a wall charger. The default config looks like it should be able to support 9V/2A, though I've also tried changing the J7/8 jumpers but nothing changed.

How can I support the full 2A?

Hi Michael,

Are you evaluating the TPS25740B for a potential new customer system? If so, it is currently NRND, and we are recommending that new projects move over to the TPS65987D.

Adam,

This is a separate project and do not require the complexity of the TPS65987D. Does the TPS25740B EVM not support 9V/2A?

How are you determining that the EVM is not able to support that the 9V/2A? If your configuration is correct, and the jumpers align with what is needed based on Table 3 of the TPS25740B datasheet, then it should support 9V/2A. Do you have a PD analyzer to see the PD contract that is negotiated between the phone and EVM?
