DS90UB954-Q1: Need to confirm if Patgen is running on EVM

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1

Team,

I have a customer working with the 954/953 TI combo, and they're trying to develop some tests on a new cable configuration including the TI954. They made a patgen script and also tried the predefined script available but no results could be seen on screen.

As a first verification, they were expecting the Analog Launchpad to feedback some clues that patgen is generating some data to the CSI-2 output, but they don’t see anything

We found in the documentation that the “Pass Sts” from “Current CSI TX Status” only outputs a pass when valid CSI video data are forwarded from the RX FPDLink Port towards the CSI output. It will not be set in this case, as the engineer I am helping is only working with the 954.

Can you confirm that the Analog Launchpad doesn’t provide any means to check if patgen running only on 954 is really working? Can we try to display it on the device linked to the CSI output ?

Also, consider this time that both TI 954 and 953 are linked together. They also have an external device pushing continuously CSI valid data that they can connect to the TI-953. Can you confirm that they only need to configure both TI cards in video forwarding mode to transfer those video data from their external device, or do they need to specify some additional details about the video data to be received by TI953 in order to forward it correctly to the TI954?

  • Hi Carolus,

Because pat gen is enabled on the deserializer side, the only way to check if it's enabled is the enabled bit on the pattern generation register. To check if the pattern and CSi timing is expected, you would have to have a process to process the CSI data.

If they have a 953-954 system with valid CSI input, then all they need to do is to configure the basic link and forward the CSI data.

    Best,
